ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

"With his usual disposition for dark humor, Luis Zapata writes R is for Reality, a disturbing masquerade about illness, old age, and death wishing. A great cursed narrative in which the characters are not daunted by the abyss or the vicissitudes of horror, on the contrary, they turn them into macabre comedy." --José Joaquín Blanco

Ramón Villafuerte is a successful TV producer, Felipe's partner, and a declared fan of plastic surgery and desserts, but, most importantly, he is the mastermind behind the program that - he knows - will change the history of television: Muérete y Gana (Die and Win), a reality show where all the contestants are homeless, sick people and the one who dies first will get a juicy prize. "Sign up if you have one foot on the grave and left a nice reminder to those who stay", is the unusual slogan that convinces eight characters to participate. They meet at the house of Muérete y Gana, accepting the cameras will observe them until their last breath.

R is for Reality goes beyond the irreverent anecdote to deeply examine death with a caustic sense of humor and frenzied language. Written by Luis Zapata, an icon of gay literature in Mexico and author of the cult novel El vampiro de la colonia Roma (The Vampire of the Roma Neighborhood), this posthumous book confirms the outstanding and well-deserved place he has in Mexican literature.
