Marcel Prvost on syntynyt 1 p:n Toukokuuta v. 1862 ja pari vuotta sitte valittiin Ranskan akatemian jseneksi, on nykyn Ranskan etevimpi kirjailijoita. Kytyn polyteknillisen opiston toimi nuori insinri alussa valtion virkamiehen Lilless tupakkateollisuuden alalla, mutta antautui piankin kokonaan kirjailijaksi, julaistuaan v. 1887 ensimisen teoksensa. Siit lhtien on hnelt ilmestynyt kaikkiaan noin kolmekymment kirjaa, joista suurin osa on romaaneja ja kertomuksia, sek kolme nytelm, niistkin ainakin kaksi hnen omien romaaniensa pohjalle rakennettua ("Les Demi-vierges" "puolineitsyet" ja "Pierre et Thrse").
