Resurgence: Engaging with Indigenous Narratives and Cultural Expressions in and Beyond the Classroom Volume 1

Resurgence is an inspiring collection of contemporary Indigenous poetry, art, and narratives that guides teachers in bridging existing K-12 curricula with Indigenous voices and pedagogies. In this first book in The Footbridge Series, we invite you to walk with us as we seek to:

Christine M'Lot (she/her/hers) is an Anishinaabe educator and curriculum developer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has experience working with children and youth in multiple capacities including child welfare, children's disability services, and Indigenous family programming. She currently teaches high school at the University of Winnipeg Collegiate. Christine is also the co-founder of Red Rising Education, and works to create Indigenous education resources for teachers.

Nicola Campbell is the author of Shi-shi-etko, Shin-chi's Canoe, Grandpa's Girls, and A Day with Yayah. Nleʔkepmx, Syilx, and Métis, from British Columbia, her stories weave cultural and land-based teachings that focus on respect, endurance, healing, and reciprocity.

She has been a finalist for numerous children's literary awards, and her book Shin-chi's Canoe won the 2009 TD Canadian Children's Literature Award and the 2008 Governor General's Award for Illustration.

Katya Adamov Ferguson is a dedicated early-years educator and a graduate student in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning studying toward her Masters of Education at the University of Manitoba. Her special research interests include teacher development, multi-modal literacies, English as an Additional Language, and Indigenous education. She works as a literacy and numeracy support teacher in the heart of Winnipeg's inner city. Katya is recognized as an artist who shares her passion for the visual and performing arts with children in extra-curricular programs.
