Bob Sullivan coached Minnesota high school and college football for an astonishing sixty years. At the prep level, he won conference championships and state titles. He is the winningest coach in Carleton College football history. He is a member of multiple halls of fame, and the field at venerable Laird Stadium at Carleton is named in his honor. His players, more than one thousand of them over three generations, know him simply as "Sully."

Appelquist, Jeff: - Jeff Appelquist was a starting wide receiver on Bob Sullivan's inaugural 1979 Midwest Conference Divisional championship football team and a four-year All-Conference sprinter and team captain in track and field. He received the John Millen Award in 1980 for outstanding individual contribution to track and field. Jeff has had a long career in the military, law, business, and entrepreneurship.
