About the Author
Miloslavsky, Count Nikolai Tolstoy: - One of fourteen authors contributing to this collection: Nikolai Tolstoy was born in England fifteen years after his father's escape from Russia. He was educated at Wellington College, Dublin. He holds an M.A. in modern history. Count Tolstoy is heir to the senior line of the Tolstoy Miloslavsky families, and lives near Oxford with his wife and four children. The Tolstoys are a family whose collective achievement is unique in history. Thrones are toppled and campaigns won by these extraordinary individuals as they flash across six centuries of Russian history, governed by passions as vast as the events they dominate. For four centuries the Tolstoys have supplied Russia with many of her greatest statesmen, soldiers, writers, and eccentrics, each generation producing one or more of the most striking figures in the country's history.Glad, Andrew Nicholas: - Born in 1952 to Russian refugees who had fled the 1917 Russian Revolution. I received professional training at the University of Bridgeport majoring in graphic design and later teaching graphic design there for four years. My career began as a staff artist for a highly respected graphic design studio eventually moving on to an educational film company as art director. I then joined an advertising agency and shortly was advanced to art director receiving numerous awards for ad campaign design. I ventured on to my own design business in 1976 to apply artistic potential to a broader range of disciplines. Over the years I earned several art director club/ad club design awards and recognition. In the early 80's I was honored with a special award from the Metropolitan Printing Association that displayed the design at the World Trade Center in New York City.Koltypin, Peter N.: - "Mr. Peter Koltypin was the first American of Russian descent to achieve nomination and run for the U.S. Congress, which he did in 1974. Founder and chairman of the Freedom for Russia Association, he is also a member of other historical and literary organizations. Genuinely concerned for his adopted country, America, especially in view of the continuous expansion of communist influence and terror throughout the world, Mr. Koltypin and his family have personally experienced torture and liquidation. Nine family members were killed by the communists and thus from personal experience he recognizes the threat to all free men and women from international communism, a danger which is inevitable unless a appropriate countermeasures are taken by and informed citizenry. An outspoken lecturer, a frequent writer on the subject of freedom, particularly in reference to the enslaved peoples of Russia, Mr. Koltypin has made his views known through numerous appearances on college campuses, at preparatory schools, at conventions and before responsible civic and fraternal societies such as the Lion's and JC's. This activity is in addition to T.V. and radio appearances as well as magazine and newspaper articles which he has authored. See U.S Senate Congressional Record, July 12th, 1979 for copy of Mr. Koltypin's speech. Speaking three languages, educated in European schools, Mr. Koltypin was born in Yugoslavia (present day Serbia) of Russian parents. He lived in Germany for many years, and arrived in America in 1951. Mr. Koltypin, twice served actively in the U.S armed forces during 1956 - 1958 and again upon recall in 1960, during the Berlin Crisis. An honorably discharged veteran serviceman, he was a prominent member of the oldest veteran organization - the Army- Navy Union, currently member of the American Legion."
