This is a book about the challenges a small rural community can bring to a new teaching professional, Earl Pike, who comes to their area. It is a book about the difficulties of trying to find justice amid inbred corruption within an old established social network based on racial prejudice. When this network is challenged, chaos occurs. Earl gets involved with a local church congregation. In the process, Earl tries to help a young newlywed who is abused. Her husband's family thwarts justice by bribing the judge at her divorce trial. An innocent man is blamed, who subsequently dies as a result by his own hand. The community is in an uproar, and as things develop, two murders occur, and the family's involvement in corruption is exposed. As a result, God's justice prevails, and faith triumphs amidst hardship. David Mason is a retired Presbyterian minister who lives in Southwestern Pennsylvania in a historic farm house built in 1890 on a small farm with his spouse of forty-four years, his two dogs and four cats. He has a love for music, singing, playing his cello, gardening and writing., This is his second novel, the first being a biography of his uncle entitled "And the Seasons Come." This novel is a reflection of his career of thirty-five years and his varied experiences in life which have given him the inspiration to craft his work.
