Als ich damit begann, die Geschichte des letzten Hansburen niederzuschreiben, war ich mir darber klar, da es unmglich sei, die Gesprche plattdeutsch wiederzugeben, da eine Erzhlung nicht in zwei Sprachen geschrieben werden kann. Ganz von selber kam ich dann dazu, den gesamten Text in der Denk- und Sprechweise der Haidjer zu halten, woraus sich, wie mir scheint, eine glckliche Einheit zwischen dem Stoffe und der Form ergab. Diese Darstellungsweise zwang mich, vielfach Worte und Wendungen zu gebrauchen, die manchem Leser ungewohnt sein werden, weswegen ich am Schlusse des Buches die notwendigen Erluterungen gebe. / H. L.
