El conde Lucanor, escrita entre el a o 1330 y 1335 por el infante Don Juan Manuel, es una obra narrativa correspondiente a la literatura espa ola medieval. Su t tulo completo y original en castellano medieval es "Libro de los enxiemplos del Conde Lucanor et de Patronio" (Libro de los ejemplos del conde Lucanor y de Patronio). Est compuesta originalmente por cinco partes, la m s conocida de las cuales es la primera parte, que corresponde a una serie de 51 exemplum o ensiemplo ("Ejemplo", escrito en castellano medieval con variadas graf as, como enxienplo, g nero asentado en la tradici n literaria medieval) que son cuentos o f bulas moralizantes o doctrinales tomadas de varias fuentes, como Esopo y otros cl sicos, as como de cuentos tradicionales rabes. Es precisamente esta primera parte la que se presenta al lector en la presente edici n. El prop sito did ctico y moral es lo que caracteriza "El conde Lucanor". Aqu , el Conde empieza la conversaci n con su consejero Patronio, plante ndole siempre un problema (Un hombre me ha hecho una propuesta... o Temo que tal o cual persona intenta...) y solicita consejo para resolverlo. Patronio, humildemente y con inteligencia sagaz, responde siempre con elegante pausa y dej ndole saber al Conde que no es necesario dar consejo a una persona tan ilustre, pero si ofreci ndose a contarle una historia de la que ste podr extraer una ense anza para resolver su dilema...
