Die Moglichkeit der Organtransplantation und die aktuell damit einhergehende Diskrepanz zwischen der Anzahl zur Verfugung stehender Organe und potenzieller Organempfanger*innen regt Autor*innen dazu an, mogliche Losungsansatze zu verhandeln, die dem Organmangel entgegenwirken. Die diesbezuglich entworfenen literarischen Szenarien lassen sich haufig im Rahmen krimineller Machenschaften, der Zurverfugungstellung menschlicher Ersatzteillager sowie des Einsatzes von Biotechnologie verorten. Die fiktionalen Verhandlungen verweisen daneben jedoch auch auf Innovationspotenziale und damit schafft die Literatur, was in Politik und Wissenschaft oft schwerfallt: Raum zu gewahren fur eine facherubergreifende und in die Gesellschaft ausstrahlende Betrachtungsweise. Aspekte der (Bio-)Medikalisierung und die damit einhergehende Ausweitung der Handlungsspielraume werden in literarischen Texten extrapoliert und in letzter, oft erschreckender Konsequenz zu Ende gedacht.
