About the Author
Meadows-Oliver, Mikki: -

Mikki Meadows-Oliver, PhD, PNP-BC, FAAN, is a Clinical Professor at the New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She has been a pediatric nurse since 1994 and a pediatric nurse practitioner since 1998. She has practiced in a variety of pediatric outpatient settings including a pediatric primary care center, a specialty program for children with lead poisoning and in school based health center settings. Dr. Meadows-Oliver has taught nursing students at a variety of educational levels including traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs, registered nurse (RN) to BSN programs, accelerated BSN programs, as well as in nurse practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. Her areas of scholarly interest include issues that disproportionately affect children and families living in low-income inner city areas such as lead poisoning, asthma and adolescent parenthood.

Banasiak, Nancy: -

Nancy Cantey Banasiak, DNP, APRN, PPCNP-BC, is an Associate Professor in the Pediatric Nursing Practitioner Specialty at Yale University School of Nursing. She has been a faculty member at Yale since 1998 and practices at Yale-New Haven Hospital Primary Care Center with a focus on caring for children with asthma. She holds her MSN and DNP degrees from Catholic University of America.

Currently, Nancy is involved in clinical research to improve care of pediatric patients with asthma across all services within the ambulatory clinics by imbedding an integrated care model into the EMRs decision support system to deliver evidence-based care across the health system, decrease variation and standardize care, improve patient outcomes and experience, and reduce cost. She is also involved in researching the importance of sleep on children and their families.
