About the AuthorJim N R Dale is an ex-British Royal Navy meteorologist and founder of British Weather Services. During his navy days, Jim was charged with observing, forecasting, and relaying the weather to an assortment of officers and crew in some of the most hazardous parts of the world, including the tempestuous Southern Ocean in and around the Falklands (Malvinas) and South Georgia, at the time of and following the war with Argentina.
In 1987 Jim formed British Weather Services, now the longest established independent meteorological company in Europe. Jim and his company supply a wide range of clients, including television and film production companies, the media, insurers, professional sports clubs, bookmakers, the legal fraternity, retailers, and many other weather-sensitive concerns.
He is the author of
Weather or Not? The Personal and Commercial Impacts of Weather and Climate and a family man, married to Kanchanan with three grown sons, Simon, Christopher, and Adam, and a younger daughter, Nanthiya.
Mykel Hawke is a retired special forces officer and senior enlisted with specialties in medicine; his skills include dental, veterinary, obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, anesthesia, tropical medicine, and definitive level trauma care. He maintains his national and state paramedic licenses. Mykel was also a special forces communications specialist with a background covering HF radios up to satellite communications, cryptology, and morse code. He is currently licensed as an FCC radio operator as well. Mykel was also an intelligence operations specialist, which gave him a steep background in analysis and successful prognostication in matters of unconventional warfare.
Mykel still serves in the reserves, holds a top secret clearance, and spends most of his time supporting and deploying with special operations forces working with active duty special ops from all four branches and PhD engineers to find capabilities gaps and create solutions for them, using his considerable experience in nine different conflicts on every major continent. He is the lead on Language Translation as a certified project manager, having been rated in seven languages, and keeps up his skills and fitness as a black belt in Judo and Aikido.
Mykel has done over sixty television shows, produced and hosted over a dozen, been in a film, and is regularly interviewed by the news media on topics such as survival and special operations. He has published a dozen books on survival, medicine, special ops, and languages; he has also co-authored several, including a thriller series, and contributed to many others.
