Estes, Joel O.: - Over the course of 40+ years, Joel Estes has been a teacher, coach, principal, administrator, and college professor. During that career, he has served thousands of students and worked with hundreds of teachers and educators. He is particularly proud of the work he did in high need elementary schools, alternative education, and working with underserved students. He has written and published a middle grade contemporary fiction novel, Stand: A journey of friendship and self-discovery.Joel and his wife, Diane, live in Knoxville, Illinois. They have two sons and six grandsons. They deeply appreciate the view of the world through children's eyes.Davis, Larry Jon: - Since his 1967 graduation from University of Iowa's School of Art and Art History, Larry Jon Davis has succeeded both as an active working artist, and in a long career as an art educator at the elementary, high school and college levels. His 2010 retirement as Professor of Art at Florida State College at Jacksonville signaled the return to full time joys of drawing and painting. His art is featured in collections across the country. The artist's and his wife Jacquie's chance relocation across the street from Joel and Diane Estes has resulted in the pleasurable collaboration on this book.
