Few cities have seen the rise and fall that Detroit has. At its height, it was the fourth largest city in the U.S. with 1.85 million residents. Today there are less than 700,000. In 2013, the city declared bankruptcy, making it the largest municipal bankruptcy in history. There are an estimated 70,000 abandoned buildings, 31,000 empty homes, and 90,000 vacant lots in the Motor City.
