We've all experienced different levels of hurt in our lives. For some, it has been a heavy burden, while for others, circumstances have perhaps been a little kinder. Regardless of who we are and what we've been through, however, we all come to a place where we need help from something or someone bigger than ourselves to make it through-to show us how to love, help us forgive, and transform us from the inside out. Author Elisa Skinner knows this place well, and she is here to share her journey with you. In Pleasant Places by Elisa Skinner is a powerful book on the different issues we face in life and struggle with as Christians. With each chapter discussing a different subject matter she worked through with God's help, Elisa's experiences, faith, and examples of God's work in her life will bless readers, provide answers, and inspire faith in believers and unbelievers alike. Inspired by the Lord's revelation to her while she was sick with H1N1 that she needed to write a book about the things God had done for her and her husband, In Pleasant Places tells Elisa's story but is also so much more than that. It is a book about God's revelation of Himself, His constant intimacy with His children, His answers to prayer, His intervention in times of need, and His practical expressions of love. Come along on the journey, and you are sure to be blessed by this writing created as an act of worship. Elisa has been a pastor's wife since 1982, and in their retirement years they are still serving in their local church. She and her husband, Billy, live in rural Shelby County, in southwest Tennessee, near their daughter and son-in-law. They have two children, Tammy and David, six grandchildren, and five other "grandchildren" who are adopted through close friendships with two younger Christian couples. Elisa's primary ministry has always focused on leading, teaching, and discipling women. She taught piano lessons for twenty-five years, and has used her musical gifts in every church her husband has pastored. She is currently involved in the music ministry of First Baptist Church, Millington, Tennessee, where they are members. She studied English and Psychology at the University of Memphis, and the University of Tennessee, in Martin, Tennessee.
