The gaze of others is a mirror we shouldn't underestimate." On a nighttime train journey between London and Edinburgh, a woman and two strangers pass the time by talking about their lives. One man recalls his ambiguous relationship with a young man who confided in him about his difficult childhood and its effect on his life. Not long after, the man wrote a novel that closely resembled this episode. Is it ethical to write about other people's private confessions?
