India is leading world in number of diabetes, second in prediabetes. Heredity, Age, Obesity, Sex, Diet, Physical Inactivity, Hypertension, Socio-economic Status, sedentary Lifestyle and various stresses etc. are some of etiological factors for prediabetes. For deterrence and healing there are many approaches such as drugs (modern medications), Alternative systems like Ayurvedic, Diet, Lifestyle intervention and recently Spice therapies are seen useful and effective. In allopath, Metformin is only medicine useful (in reduced doses) for avoidance and curative approach. The combination therapies are important in management and prevention of prediabetes. Ayurveda advocate the use of plants in treatment plenty of diseases. India has about 45,000 plant species and among them, several thousands have been claimed to possess medicinal properties. Various researches, mentioned in ancient literature/ used traditionally, have shown Antidiabetics property.
