About the Author
Abney, Raymond Robert: - The author, Raymond Robert Abney Jr., also known as Robert, Bobby, and RR, has been researching the Abney family since the 1980's. He is well-known in genealogical circles as the Authority on the Abney Family, even being called an Abney Guru. Mr. Abney (student of nine languages) uses every tool at his disposal: documentation (often translating documents and inscriptions from their original language), nomenclature, prosopography, mathematics and critical thinking to produce an accurate account of the Abney family. He has always been willing to freely share his work, discoveries and conclusions, as many of you already know. Mr. Abney has worked with hundreds of genealogists and historians, connecting their branch to the Abney Tree, correcting their information, and adding to his own. His innovations have greatly increased interest and corrections in family history. Mr. Abney founded the Society of United Genealogists, International and published the Historian newsletter and created a Bulletin Board System (SUG) before the popularity of the Internet. He has previously published and sold two genealogy-related books, to wit: History of the Noble de Saint-Germain Family and the Art of Ancestral Chart Drawing (the Abney Method). As for his work on the Abney Family, Mr. Abney was the founder of the Centralized Abney Archives, and the Abney Family Researcher newsletter. Now, for the first time, he is able to assemble much of his work in his latest book: Abney, subtitled: Ancestry and Genealogy of Dr. Abraham Abney of Virginia.
