Feelings of tingling and weakness increase in intensity until the muscles cannot be used at all and the patient is almost totally paralyzed. No one knows why Guillain-Barre strikes some people and not others, or what sets the disease in motion. What we do know is that GBS is now the most common cause of acute paralysis in Western countries since the virtual elimination of poliomyelitis with vaccination programs.

About the Author
Parry, Gareth J.: - Gareth J. Parry, MB, ChB, FRACP was born in New Zealand and obtained his medical degrees at the Otago University Medical School in Dunedin, New Zealand. He did his neurology residency at the University of Pennsylvania at the time of the GBS epidemic that followed the swine influenza vaccination program in 1976. That experience instilled in him an interest in GBS and related diseases that has stayed with him for his entire career. He currently lives in Minneapolis where he is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Minnesota.

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly.
