Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1870, by the REFORMED CHURCH PUBLICATION BOARD, in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the United States, in and for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Folgende Gedichte, in Pennsylvanisch-deutscher Mundart geschrieben, erschienen ursprnglich im Guardian. Dr. Harbaugh wurde oft gebeten eine Sammlung derselben in Buchform herauszugeben, welches er auch beabsichtigte. Leider blieb dieser Wunsch seiner vielen Freunde durch seinen frhen Tod unerfllt. Harbaugh hat diese Gedichte geschrieben, nicht ich; allein er ist mir ein theurer Freund gewesen ist es immer noch, obgleich im Jenseits. Dankbare Liebe zu ihm sowie zu dem Volk, in dessen Sprache er diese Lieder singt, bewegt mich dieses Werkchen herauszugeben. Auf vielen Seiten in Amerika wie in Europa ist der Wunsch fr sein Erscheinen laut geworden. Den vielen Freunden, welche auf verschiedene Weise bei den Vorbereitungen des Unternehmens mitwirkten, sei hiermit herzlich gedankt. Namentlich Herrn E. D. Leisenring, B. F. Trexler, Pastor S. K.
