ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A story of vocation, passion and war that transports us to 1936 to experience the magic of one of the world's most important professions: opening the doors of knowledge and helping others cross its threshold themselves.

May 1936. A young woman travels to a small town in the mountains of C?diz to take her first teaching job.

Eulalia --or Lali, as her students call her-- nervously prepares a curriculum the local children based on the modern teaching methods in which she was trained under the Second Spanish Republic. Following the outbreak of Civil War, this same training is her undoing. Accused of indoctrinating her students, she is arrested and banned from teaching under the dictatorship, joining the approximately one-third of the country's teachers who met the same fate. Until, thirty years later, an unexpected visit changes Lali's life.

This is the story of a teacher with no pupils who fought her whole life to return to the classroom. With this novel, Jos? Antonio Lucero, renowned author of La vida en un minuto and La madrina de guerra pays homage to a profession and vocation, and demonstrates that good teachers never lose their ability to inspire.
