L'Iliade relate relate le conflit l gendaire de la guerre de Troie et le si ge de la ville (dont l'ancien nom est Ilion), les batailles et les querelles entre le roi Agamemnon et le valeureux guerrier Achille.
C'est le prince Troyen P ris qui d clenche cette guerre en enlevant H l ne, pouse du roi de Sparte. En r torsion, M n las, l' poux bafou , l ve avec son fr re Agamemnon, une exp dition rassemblant la plupart des rois grecs, qui assi ge Troie.
L'Odyss e conte les exploits du h ros grec Odysseus (connu sous le nom latin d'Ulysse) et son passionnant voyage de retour apr s la chute de Troie, au bout de dix ann es de guerre.
Il faudra dix ans Ulysse pour atteindre Ithaque. En son absence, alors qu'il tait cru mort, sa femme P n lope et son fils T l maque doivent faire face un groupe de pr tendants incontr lables.
Les traductions effectu es par Leconte de Lisle et Ulysse de S guier sont ici restitu es en int gralit et non modernis es, afin de rester fid le au style fabuleux de l' pop e livr e par Hom re.
