About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR LINDA KING was raised in the wild back country of Boulder, Utah, which in now in the heart of STAIRCASE ESCALANTE NATONAL MONUMENT. It was one of the last towns in America to receive a road, built by the CCC boys and the last place mail was delivered by horseback. She has been a sculptor for over 50 years doing many portraits of writers and poets, including Charles Bukowski, Lawrence Farlinghetti, A.D.Winans, Jack Micheline, Harold Norse, Geraldine King and Jack Hirshman among others. Linda is a much published poet in her own right, published in many small press magazines, such as Wormwood Review, Half n' Half, New York Quarterly, Pearl, Vagabond, Shameless Hussy, Purr, Rattle and many, many more. Her poems have been included in City Light Anthology, Vagabond Anthology, Let's Drive The Staircase Escalante National Monument by Ann Reynolds, etc. Linda chapbooks are SWEET AND DIRTY (Vagabond Press), ME AND YOUR SOMETIMES LOVE POEMS with Charles Bukowski (Kisskill Press), THE SAVAGENESS OF MY DISCONTENT, I DANCE WITH A MAN LAST NIGHT, EXPOSED, THE ELEPHANT CHRONICLES and SEER BY THE SEA (Purring Press), and CURLED IN THE CURVE OF HIS BODY and THE WORLD IS NOT WHAT I THOUGHT (Sore Dove Press). Her books are FROM THE MOUTH OF ANGELS, Five Women Poets (Tweleve Gage Press), BUKOWSKI UNDIGESTED (Purring Press), and MAD OUIJA (soon to be released by Sore Dove Press.) Linda has been part of poetry readings with Charles Bukowski, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg and others. She has had many solo reading at Universities, galleries and bookstores. ONLY A TENANT (a play about Bukowski) was made into short movie in Malibu. Her book I DANCE WITH A MAN NIGHT was converted to an evening of theatre at Arizona State University. Her play was selected with ten other writers for COLLORATAL DAMAGE at Metro Arts in Phoenix, Az. She was part of Playwrights Workshop Theatre, taught by Raymond Shurtz for many years. Linda, now lives in San Francisco, close to her daughter and grandkids and continues to write, paint and sculpture. Hers older son lives in Chandler, AZ. Her youngest son lives in L.A. is a movie maker.
