ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A 10-year-old girl assimilates her father's illness as only children can do: playing.

Miramar is the new novel by Gloria Peirano, author of the remarkable La Ruta de Los Hospitales published by Alfaguara in 2019, which received numerous national and international awards.

"Peirano writes as if she were inhaling poetry and exhaling verses that take shape in refined sentences with considerable perfection." --Silvina Friera, Página/12

Like small precious stones set in a piece of jewelry, the scenes and moments of this novel build a fragile puzzle that comes and goes in time; it's 1972, it's 1976, it's the 1978 World Cup; it's today. The background: a house in Miramar, the beach house of a family that is disintegrating. Meanwhile, the children, a ten-year-old girl and her younger brother witness the disagreements and reconciliations of their parents, still young, beautiful, and full of fury and love.

But tragedy happens. The father falls ill, and the girl assimilates the pain by playing a private game only for them. Her favorite book at the time, Little Women, becomes the privileged setting where they can play to support each other.

With Miramar, Gloria Peirano gives us a story of filial love and mourning that is not forgotten over time; on the contrary, it grows strong in our memory. A novel that moves us and reminds us of the inevitable losses of life.
