ABSTRACT The present study entitled "Social support, Self -esteem, Depression, Optimism and Quality of life in people living with HIV/AIDS in relation to their Religiosity" intended to find out the significance of relationships of social support, self -esteem, depression, optimism and quality of life in people living with HIV/AIDS in relation to religiosity and identify the demographic and personal factors which influence Social support, Self -esteem, Depression, Optimism and Quality of life and Religiosity in people living with HIV/AIDS. The purposive sampling method was adopted where in people living with HIV/AIDS were chosen in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The total sample used in the study was 300 people living with HIV/AIDS in Hosapate city Bellary District. Scales namely Spirituality, DUREL, RCOPE, Interpersonal evaluation list, Rosenberg self esteem, Life Orientation test- Revised Scale, Center for Epidemiology Studies -Depression (CES-D) and HIV/AIDS targeted quality of life (HAT-QoL) Scales were employed. The collected data was scrutinized, scored and transformed to "t‟ test and analyzed using SPSS 20. The statistical techniques of Pearson‟s coefficient of correlation and Stepwise multiple regression analysis were applied to analyzed the score and verify the stated hypothesis. The technique of Pearson‟s coefficient of correlation revealed that the dependent variable of social support, self esteem, depression, optimism and quality of life variables under study were significantly related to religiosity. Further the multivariate analysis revealed out many factors, age, gender, education level, occupation, domicile and CD4 cell count emerged significantly and predominantly as contributing factors to the social support, self-esteem, depression, optimism, quality of life and religiosity of people living with HIV/AIDS. The study revealed the following facts:  The male people living with HIV/AIDS with high religiosity in terms of spirituality have shown significantly low depression.  The male people living with HIV/AIDS with high religiosity in terms of Organized Religiosity have shown significantly high self esteem and high quality of life.  The male people living with HIV/AIDS with high religiosity in terms of Intrinsic Religiosity have shown significantly high self esteem, high depression, high optimism and high quality of life, but have shown significantly low social support.  Domicile (Rural) has significantly contributed collectively as well as individually to social support of people living with HIV/AIDS.
