Karate is a martial art that focuses on the application of strikes using the hands and feet. It originated in Japan and has become popular throughout the world. There are many styles of karate but the most widely practiced outside of Japan is Shotokan. Training in karate is normally divided into three sections: the basic technique; kata, or sequencing of techniques to imaginary opponents; and kumite, the sparring done with an opponent. Gradings are the exams needed to progress to the next level. Typically, three months is needed to progress through each grading. There are usually three or four gradings per year, each with a syllabus. In total a student must pass ten gradings in order to get a black belt--this, on average, takes a student four years to attain. About the Author
Ashley P. Martin started training in karate in 1992, and has since been an instructor and grading examiner. In 2003 he cofounded Just Karate Ltd., an organization that offers quality karate instruction (www.justkarate.co.uk) to private clients, at public classes, and at schools as part of physical education teaching.

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
