About the Author
Joseph J. Corey, Jr. is a Contracts Management Consultant specializing in large, complex nuclear and other power plant engineering and construction contracts. He has extensive experience in all phases of contract and claims management for major engineering and construction projects. Joe managed projects and contracts for engineering, construction, components, start-up, and operation of the Harris Nuclear Plant. He planned, developed, negotiated, drafted, and managed contracts for nuclear plant refueling outage services and major engineering and construction projects including steam generator replacements, power up-rates, turbine modifications and upgrades, spent fuel dry storage facilities, and other major modifications. Joe's Ten Stage Contracting Process is the basis for this book and his Excellence in Contract Management and Contracting Process publications and training classes. The Ten Stages of the Contracting Process provides Contract and Project Managers and other project personnel with the skills to more efficiently and effectively plan, manage, control, administer, and evaluate contracts and monitor and control contractors. Joe integrated the Ten Stages of the Contracting Process with the Six Phases of Project Management giving Project and Contract Managers and other project personnel an understanding of how contracting supports each Phase of the Project Management Process allowing project personnel to enhance contract and project success. Joe was a Captain in the US Army Corps of Engineers where he served with the 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam and also served in the U.S., Thailand, and Europe in Army Construction and Combat Engineer Units and as an instructor at the U.S. Army Engineer School. Joe graduated from the US Military Academy, (West Point) BS; Arizona State University, MS (Industrial Engineering and Construction Management); the University of Utah, MBA; and North Carolina Central University School of Law, JD. He is a North Carolina Licensed Attorney, Registered Professional Engineer, Licensed Building Contractor, and a NAPM/ISM Lifetime Certified Purchasing Manager.
