About the Author
As a lifelong resident of Kansas, I have always sought to understand the roots of of community and the historical events that have created a land rich in history and more importantly...folklore. Western American history, mysteries of the past and present, and the rich folklore tradition of our nation reflected in stories of lost mines, buried treasures and ghost towns set me on a path of discovery...these are the things I have studied, learned about, and now hope to share with readers. My sincere hope is to capture the fascinating and complicated overlapping aspects of history and treasure. More importantly, I hope to revitalize to some degree many lost and overlooked treasures of mining, metal detecting and ghost town lore. The history of Treasure Hunting in print is every bit as rich and compelling as the stories captured in books, magazines and newspapers for over a century. My hope is to reintroduce material that would otherwise be obscured by time and circumstance, and reintroduce a new audience to things that so many cherished for so long. My first significant project is reintroducing material from Karl von Mueller's defunct, National Prospector's Gazette. A wealth of information was contained in these newspapers, and during its 30 year run the NPG was highly regarded by prospectors, metal detector enthusiasts, historians and treasure hunters alike. I'd like to share what so many revered, but which tie has reduced to nostalgia and thus, Selections From the National Prospectors Gazette was conceived. My personal areas of study have been the fabled treasure of the Aztecs and the LUE map made famous by Karl von Mueller. I've also studied Utah's Lost Rhoades Mines and maintain a treasure hunting and lost mines forum dedicated to The Lost Treasures of Utah that was inspired by my studies of Utah's famous lost mines. I hope I can share some of what I've discovered and learned with others...and likewise, always welcome the chance to learn more form others about the things I cherish.
