Madrona Project 3: Human Communities in Wild Places.

The third issue of The Madrona Project attempts to demonstrate ways in which human communities collaborate with natural forces. There are five sections. The first is a tribute to the founders of Empty Bowl which includes work by Mike O'Connor, Tom Jay, Carolyn Servid, Jerry Gorsline, Freeman House, and Finn Wilcox. The other sections comprise work around the themes of the wild, rural wild, urban wild and wilderness itself. Among the seventy-three contributors are: Tess Gallagher, Joseph Stroud, Robert Michael Pyle, Bill Yake, Tim McNulty, Kathryn Hunt, Dennis Maloney, Michael Spence, Priscilla Long, Clem Starck, Terrance Hayes, Kevin Miller, Howard L. Johnston, Jim Bodeen, Sam Green, Sally Green, Charles Goodrich, Allen Braden, Kate Reavey, Carmen Germain, Bethany Reid, Alicia Hokanson, Luther Allen, Sheila Bender, John Brandi, Carlos Reyes, and Tom Wayman. The cover art by Tony Angell reflects our theme: human communities in wild places.

Poetry.
