Douens, Soucouyant, Jumbies, and ways to keep your man while avoiding bad luck. The legends and folklore of the Caribbean are passed down through generations via warnings and storytelling. Superstitions were a way to ensure that children followed the rules of their elders through creative scare tactics. This book explores superstitions throughout the Caribbean, particularly the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. This book is intended to be a way to pass our cultural heritage on in a comedic and light-hearted way for all to enjoy.

Derek Valley, affectionately known as Mr. Total Local, was born and raised in the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. His humble beginnings were as a hand painter and creator of custom jewelry. Now, he is the world's largest producer of custom-made Trinidad and Tobago t-shirts. In addition, he is the proud owner of 16 souvenir stores throughout the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, and Grenada. Derek has always prided himself on diving into and promoting Caribbean culture and heritage internationally. This is his latest method of preserving and disseminating our culture to the next generation.
