ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Was the main purpose of the Spanish Conquest only gain extreme power and wealth, or was the spiritual conquest of the native's souls also a goal?

How did Hernan Cortes integrate politics and war into his strategy?

How did he first approach Montezuma? Is Cortes the great villain in history, or could his name still be cleared?

Through these pages, Dr. Ursula Camba and Alejandro Rosas do not intend to remove Hernan Cortes from the civic hell where he lays within Mexico's national history, nor do they seek to vindicate him or set him up on a pedestal as history often did with many questionable heroes. Without any prejudice, they delve into the Conquest to understand that multi-layered man, those who stood alongside him, and the circumstances of that important historical event from which Mexico was born, one which also changed the world's history.
