Cool Kids Do Maths in Spanish has been carefully written for 9 - 12 year olds by a qualified and experienced foreign languages teacher. As it's both useful and impressive to know all the numbers from 1 to 100 in Spanish, this bookmay also interest older children. The first seven sections of the book practice 10 - 20 new numbers at a time as well as recap on the numbers already introduced. Each section begins with a page practising the new numbers. This is followed by fun mathematical activities to help embed the numbers in the child's learning. The 8th section of this book recaps on the numbers 10 to 100 in Spanish. Finally there is a section on fractions using colours in Spanish and pizza toppings. On each of the activity sheets there is support in Spanish for the numbers needed for completing that particular activity. And at the back of the book, there is a lovely reference page for the numbers 1 to 100 in Spanish and a fun game. The activity sheets can be photocopied for use by the purchasing institution or individual in their classes or at home. This books is a greatcross curricular Spanish and maths resource for teachers as each section could make a booklet for that number range. Leyland, Joanne: - Joanne Leyland specialises in writing books teaching foreign languages to children in a fun and engaging way. Her varied range includes activity books, holiday phrase books with challenges, special Christmas editions, word search editions, first 100 words colouring book editions, photocopiable games and stories. Joanne studied languages at University and she lived abroad for almost 2 years in the 1990s. Before she became a teacher she worked in exporting where she enjoyed speaking her foreign languages on a daily basis. She has now been teaching languages to 3 to 11 year olds for almost 20 years. The two things she loves most about teaching is seeing her pupils enjoy her lessons and using her creativity to help them learn. When she isn't teaching or writing another book, she's probably speaking French, Spanish, German or Italian with her friends, trying out a new recipe, swimming or gardening.
