As my (Dawn Stafford) design career continues to grow, many people have asked me to create their design concepts for various reasons. The longer I have remained on this journey, the more I understand that the process consists more of them. While history, creativity, and imagination play a large part in the design process, much of it resembles teaching a toddler a new language while having them explore a world that is old to you but new to them. As a toddler is guided by education, interaction, language, and tactile stimuli, so are the design processes.

When we take a step back and look at ourselves, specifically our dress attire, we gain a fuller sense of the unique individual who lives within us. What begins to unfold from this conscious process is a dialogue of preferences and the ability to express. To optimize the way we understand, we must keep expanding the way we communicate. Design is a language.
