ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Aside from setting the scene for the final encounter between Spaniards and Mexica, this third volume of The Fall of Tenochtitlan features the story of what turned Malinalli, a noblewoman from Oluta, turned slave at Chakam Putum, into one of the key figures of the Conquest.

Year Ce-Acatl. Cuau Texcallan. Once gathered, the lords of Tepeticpac, Ocotelulco, Quiauixtlan, and Tizatlan discuss the reception they will give the bearded strangers closing in on their altepetl, on their way to the Mexica capital. Huehue Xicotencatl and his son, the fierce Xicotencatl Axayacatzin, convince the council to declare war on the foreigners. Despite their efforts, this decision brings forth disastrous consequences for their people. Their villages sieged and their forces decimated, the tlatocayotl decide then to forge an alliance with Captain Malintzin and join his campaign. Together, texcaltecas and Castilians prepare their advance on the majestic Tenochtitlan.
