What was the role of the Federal Police before it became the National Guard? How did the Federal Police participate in some of the most relevant operations fighting crime in the past few years?

Both nationwide and abroad, there is a notion that Mexican police forces are corrupt. Even more, in the lexicon of drug smuggling, the Federal Police was synonymous of facilitators and pawns of the cartels. Many agents' actions discredited it, up to a point where very few Mexicans trusted this force, allegedly created to ensure national security. However, in their history there are also some very successful missions that concluded in the apprehension of important drug dealers and the solving of cold cases.

Based on solid documentary research, backed by files, photographs, and multiple interviews, J. Jesús Esquivel gives an insider's account of 10 criminal prosecution operations done by the Mexican Federal Police, like the capture of Chapo Guzmán in Los Mochis, Marisela Escobedo's murder case, or the murder of Javier Sicilia's son, to name a few.
