About the Author

Laurence Phillips (laurencephillips.com) has been escaping to France since boyhood and has written many and varied guides to the country, two of which (Bradt's Lille and Eurostar Cities) have won the prestigious British Guild of Travel Writers Guidebook of the Year Award. When he started writing about Lille, Phillips says, it was 'a monochrome reminder of a failed industrial past'.
