Not Only When the Rain Falls is a collection of personal essays regarding, as the subtitle indicates, the author's seven decades of 'Adventures in Awakening'... awakening to an expanded understanding and application of the basic principles of uncompromising, boundless love and compassion. Beyond religion, beyond spiritual or philosophical belief systems, one tenet resonates the most - the respect and honor of all beings. Her adventures, experiences, questions and insights are the connecting threads that define her story. Those who have shared her life - be it a pet, a grandparent, or angelic presences - have offered the author profound opportunities to be a better human being and to lend a hand up to those in need of assistance, or just a caring ear. These are experiences that others may find useful for their own journeys. Most of all, her adventures are offered with humility and love.

About the Author
Reynolds, Rita: - Rita Reynolds lives at The Animals' Peace Garden in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where she happily pursues a life filled with animals, the natural world, and writing. Reynolds has been rescuing and tending to creatures since since she was a small child. When she and her family moved to Virginia in 1978, they brought with them two dogs and two cats and their Animals' Peace Garden sanctuary continued to grow from there. They work with all beings, most notably animals moving through illness, dying and beyond death, with their philosophy based on Dr. Albert Schweitzer's famous ethic of Reverence For Life. Her adventures, experiences, questions and insights are the connecting threads that define her story. Reynolds is the author of Blessing the Bridge, What Animals Teach Us About Death, Dying and Beyond and Ask the Cow, a Gentle Guide to Finding Peace. She is also the editor/publisher of laJoie, a quarterly publication dedicated to reverence for all life. Her website is www.blessingthebridge.com and her e mail is lajoieco1@aol.com.Siegel, Bernie: - Dr. Siegel, who prefers to be called Bernie, was born in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Colgate University and Cornell University Medical College. He holds membership in two scholastic honor societies, Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha and graduated with honors. His surgical training took place at Yale New Haven Hospital, West Haven Veteran's Hospital and the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He retired from practice as an assistant clinical professor of surgery at Yale of general and pediatric surgery in 1989 to speak to patients and their caregivers. In 1978 he originated Exceptional Cancer Patients, a specific form of individual and group therapy utilizing patients' drawings, dreams, images and feelings. ECaP is based on carefrontation, a safe, loving therapeutic confrontation, which facilitates personal lifestyle changes, personal empowerment and healing of the individual's life. The physical, spiritual and psychological benefits which followed led to his desire to make everyone aware of his or her healing potential. He realized exceptional behavior is what we are all capable of. www.berniesiegelmd.com
