A Handbook of Artificial Intelligence in Drug Delivery explores the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in drug delivery strategies. The book covers pharmaceutical AI and drug discovery challenges, Artificial Intelligence tools for drug research, AI enabled intelligent drug delivery systems and next generation novel therapeutics, broad utility of AI for designing novel micro/nanosystems for drug delivery, AI driven personalized medicine and Gene therapy, 3D Organ printing and tissue engineering, Advanced nanosystems based on AI principles (nanorobots, nanomachines), opportunities and challenges using artificial intelligence in ADME/Tox in drug development, commercialization and regulatory perspectives, ethics in AI, and more.

This book will be useful to academic and industrial researchers interested in drug delivery, chemical biology, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry and bioinformatics. The massive time and costs investments in drug research and development necessitate application of more innovative techniques and smart strategies.

About the Author
Philip, Anil K.: - Prof. Dr. Anil K. Philip is currently working as Associate Dean (Head), School of Pharmacy, University of Nizwa, Oman. Among other credentials, he also serves as a member of the HSS sectorial grant committee of The Research Council, Oman. His research objectives and achievements have been in controlling/modifying the release of small/large molecules targeted to GI space using phase transited delivery systems. He has worked extensively in the field of controlled/ modified drug release systems, and possesses rich experience in digging the root cause and finding solutions thereof for superior drug delivery systems. Currently, his lab focuses on developing nano drug delivery system, which can be targeted to the various body organs. His work recently was granted a patent for controlled delivery of nutraceutical and another patent is pending for colon targeted systems.Shahiwala, Aliasgar: - Prof. Aliasgar Shahiwala is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics, and Graduate Program Director, at Dubai Pharmacy College, Dubai, UAE. Prof. Shahiwala has obtained postdoctoral research experience at Northeastern University, United States, centred on applications of nanotechnology in the field of drug delivery and drug targeting. With more than 20 years of teaching and research experience, he has published 3 books, 10 book chapters and several articles in international peer-reviewed journals.Rashid, Mamoon: - Dr. Mamoon Rashid serves the college as Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics at Appalachian College of Pharmacy, Oakwood, Virginia, USA. After finishing his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, he joined the Appalachian College of Pharmacy in October 2013. His doctoral research work discovered that the endopeptidase neurolysin is associated to stroke pathology, and remains a potential consideration for developing therapeutics. Recently, Dr. Rashid has contributed two chapters for a book on Bioinspired and Biomimetic Materials for Drug Delivery (Woodhead, Oct 2016). Dr. Rashid's research interest includes both drug delivery and molecular biology. His current projects included development of transdermal drug delivery and stability of marketed drug products and development of analytical method of different products compounded in local pharmacies.
