ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

The population is dwindling; the village is dying. If that happens, the door can never be closed. Curva de Arla will disappear as though it never existed. No one will remember it or the other forgotten towns that sleep beneath the bogs.

The Castilian village of Curva de Arla has its peace disturbed by the sudden appearance of the Sorrows, evil spirits that have opened a door into our reality and are threatening to overrun it. Controlled by an unknown but even more dangerous entity, the Sorrows have been feeding on the envy and violence that have imbued the land for centuries, and the time has come for their revenge. Only Bernarda, a mysterious woman dressed in black, knows the secret to stopping them. Eight inhabitants of the village must be chosen, one of whom will act as the "guardian" with the power to seal the door. The living and the dead will face off in a bloody struggle between darkness and light, past and present, savagery and hope.

A rural thriller in the style of Stephen King, Mariana Enríquez or Álex de la Iglesia, The Hour of the Flies is a perfect blend of terror and local color. With it, Alejandro Marcos emerges as a new and original voice in the genre who skillfully and inventively sets a chilling storyline against the all-too-real backdrop of Spain's vanishing villages.
