About the Author

Dr Gianluca Tamagno is a Consultant in Internal Medicine with a longstanding clinical, research, and academic experience in the field of neuroendocrinology. He graduated in Genoa (Italy) and trained in Padua (Italy) and Paris (France) before moving to Liège (Belgium) as Clinical & Research Fellow in Endocrinology. He moved to Dublin (Ireland) in 2007 and worked in St Vincent's University Hospital - University College Dublin as Special Lecturer in Endocrinology. Dr Tamagno was subsequently appointed Consultant in Endocrinology at Marburg University Hospital (Germany). He returned to Ireland in 2013 and worked as a Consultant in St Columcille's Hospital, in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, and then in Wexford General Hospital - University College Dublin. Currently, he works for the most part at the Hermitage Medical Clinic, Dublin. His clinical and research interests include neuroendocrine tumors, hypothalamic/pituitary disorders, thyroid diseases, and hypoglycaemic syndromes. He is the author of numerous publications in international journals and has been a speaker or chairman at several scientific conferences. He is member of the editorial board of three scientific journals. He is the former coordinator of the European Neuroendocrine Association's Young Researchers' Committee.

Dr Manuel D. Gahete is Associate Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Cordoba and the current coordinator of the ENEA Young Researchers Committee. He graduated in Biology in 2005, obtained his PhD in Sciences "Cum Laude" from the University of Cordoba (Spain) in 2010 and developed his post-doctoral training at the University of Illinois at Chicago (USA). He has published 108 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Translational Oncology, focused on the pathophysiological role of different neuroendocrine systems in endocrine/metabolic disorders and tumor pathologies. He has filed 10 patents, published 31 book chapters, participated in several international conferences as invited speaker and served as Editorial Board member of different journals. He has directed several Doctoral Theses and under- and post-graduate studies and received numerous awards [Andalusian of the Future (2010), Young Investigator Award (2013, European Society of Endocrinology), Young Endocrinologist Award (Spanish Society of Endocrinology, 2019) or Early Investigator Award (American Society of Endocrinology, 2021)].
