Entre varios papeles que dej Azara en poder de su compaero y amigo, D. Pedro Cervio, se hallaba el borrador autgrafo de su correspondencia indita sobre los trabajos de demarcacion:documento importante, que contiene la historia de las controversias suscitadas por los Comisarios portugueses, con varias observaciones sobre el tratado de 1777. En l se sealan los errores de los negociadores; sobre todo el de hacer pasar la lnea de demarcacion por dos rios (Ygurey y Corrientes), que, no existen, no se hallan donde ellos los habian colocado. Solo al cabo de muchas investigaciones pudo descubrirlos el autor de esta correspondencia, el primero en el Yaguarey, Igurey de d'Anville, y el segundo en el rio Appa. Pero, por mas fundada que fuese esta opinion, no pas de conjetura, y la aprobacion de los Altos Poderes Contratantes no bast darle el carcter de un artculo adicional al tratado.
