This book explores the impact of the global spread of English on English language teaching and learning. It argues for the need for change in the way in which English is taught in order to reflect global realities and the latest research findings. The authors examine research on the pedagogical implications of the global spread of English, propose innovations for teaching English as an international language, and outline key areas for future classroom-based research. The book will be required reading for both postgraduate researchers, and teachers and teacher trainers in TESOL/ELT programmes.
