By this small allowance, it appears that this house must be of a very ancient foundation. Maitland. 2Gardens court, 1. Baldwins gardens. 2. St. Botolph Bishopsgate church yard. 3. Clements Inn. 4. Garrets Almshouse, in Porters fields, and in the liberty of Norton Falgate, was founded in the year 1729, by Nicholas Garret, Esq; citizen and weaver, for the accommodation of six poor members of his company, each of whom has also an annual allowance of 8l., a chaldron of coals, and dozen and a half of candles.
