And as you know from reading "The Official Handbook of the Legion of Mary", the spirituality of the Legion is based entirely on the Marian spirituality of St. Louis de Montfort.

And if that wasn't enough, here's something that may surprise you: Our Lady herself, in a very real way, put Fr. Neubert on the same level as St. Louis. Because she obtained for both of them a very special (and rare) grace.

"Which was?" you ask.

She obtained for both of them the grace of perfect purity, which they didn't have to struggle to preserve.

St. Louis always asked Our Lady to protect his purity. His best friend, Fr. Blain, said, "He knew so little of what can distort purity in a soul, that one day, as I spoke to him about temptations against this virtue, he told me that he did not know what they were."

Fr. Neubert said Our Lady obtained the same grace for him. In his autobiography, which he wrote in 1961, he said that from the day he made his consecration to Mary in 1902, he hadn't suffered a single temptation against purity.

That special grace and the many other graces Fr. Neubert received from Our Lady allowed him to analyze every aspect of Catholic education from a truly unique perspective.

That's why his Marian books were so popular with the Legion of Mary and countless French-speaking Catholics. And why their popularity continues to grow among English-speaking Catholics today. And it's why he's seen as a "new St. Louis de Montfort".
