ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

1892: Argentina is a young nation, among the most vibrant and developed in the world. Two mysterious federal police agents arrive in Quequén, a village on the Atlantic coast, to help solve a crime.

Two children were beheaded and their mother, still alive, although in a catatonic state, is the only witness to the tragedy. One of the police officers is Juan Vucetich, a Croatian immigrant who designed an innovative method: dactyloscopy -or fingerprinting- that makes it possible to unequivocally identify a person by the unique relief of the papillary ridges of the fingers. If they were able to solve such a dreadful crime using this procedure, Argentina would take the geopolitical lead with this revolutionary achievement, a gift for the administration of many countries.

With great narrative and refined precision to describe the turbulent, expectant, and innovative climate that existed at the gates of the 20th century, Federico Andahazi created a dark and captivating story that delves into characters as fragile and complex as they are brave. Persecutions, corruption, international intrigues, and revolutionary anarchists run through the pages of this novel in which enjoyment and reflection are brought together in an erudite and delicate way.
