ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

The Scent of the End of the World is a passionate and unsettling novel about a forbidden love that pushes the boundaries of desire, guilt, and survival.

In the midst of the global COVID-19 lockdown, Carmen revisits her story with Antonio--a clandestine relationship that marked her forever--while confronting the physical and emotional aftermath of the virus. Between the loss of her sense of smell, illness, and memory, the protagonist reconstructs the intensity of a passion that was both her greatest joy and her condemnation.

Vanessa De La Torre delivers a visceral, poetic, and deeply human story about what it means to love on the edge of the abyss. In this, her second book, she blends the sensitivity of literary journalism with the emotional force of contemporary fiction.
