Reimagining Estate Planning, Trust Administration, and Family Culture, in Service of Generational Well-Being

What if wealth were understood not as money alone, but as the well-being of the whole family?

Family Flourishing invites families and advisors to rethink estate planning, trust administration, and family culture as human work, not just technical work.

With warmth, clarity, and practical wisdom, the authors show how financial capital can support what matters most: purpose, lifelong learning, healthy relationships, and a legacy the family can live into and pass on. For those who want planning to do more than transfer assets, this book offers a new lens and an inspiring path toward flourishing across generations.

Drawing on decades of experience serving families, James E. Hughes Jr., Mary K. Duke, and Stacy L. Allred have seen what happens when a trust is designed only to protect - and what becomes possible when it is also designed to be a gift of love. Estate plans and governance structures are never merely technical arrangements. Administered with care, they can become the architecture of a Flourishing life. Administered mechanically, they can quietly diminish the very people they were meant to serve.

Who this book is for:

  • Individuals reviewing or preparing their estate plan who are seeking a more meaningful process while having a more humane impact on their descendants
  • Individuals who are living with trusts as beneficiaries of legal structures created by others
  • Family members who are navigating the challenges and opportunities of significant financial wealth who seek to embrace a culture of care that can be sustained for generations
  • The dedicated advisors who serve these individuals and their families
