A timeless tale of friendship and bravery that spans generations.

A boy. A dog. A bright red sled.

Young Gunzil loves life on the farm, especially when a magical snowfall blankets the fields in white. Eager to test out his favorite sled, Gunzil sets off with his faithful dog, Bowser, for a day of winter adventure.

But as the afternoon sun fades and a fresh storm rolls in, the familiar landscape transforms into a disorienting wilderness. Deep in the woods and shivering in the growing dark, the path home has vanished. In this heartwarming story of survival and loyalty, Gunzil discovers that Bowser is more than just a playmate.

Originally written in 1934 and beautifully restored for this definitive 2026 edition, Gunzil & Bowser features hand-drawn calligraphy and vibrant digital illustrations, making it a perfect read-aloud for fans of classic winter adventures.

About the Author
Praël, Robert O. L.: - Robert Otto Lorne Prael Jr. was an artist who specialized in painting and illustration. Taking the words of the short story, Gunzil and Bowser, he illustrated the original drawings in an unsuccessful attempt at publication in 1978. This 2026 edition, restored and colorized by his son, finally brings that vision to life.Praël, Anthony G.: - Anthony Gardner Praël is a retired corporate computer systems engineer and composer with a 35-year career. A dedicated creative historian, Anthony began the part-time labor of love to publish Gunzil & Bowser in the late 1990s. In this 2026 definitive edition, he leveraged his technical expertise to meticulously restore, colorize, and texture the original 1978 illustrations by his father, Robert Otto Lorne Prael Jr. By integrating his mother's hand-drawn calligraphy with modern digital systems, Anthony has finally brought this multi-generational vision to life nearly a century after its inception.
