How to Draw Traditional Tattoos is a step-by-step guide to mastering the bold, graphic style of American traditional tattooing. Rooted in the history of classic flash, this book introduces you to the essential motifs, symbolism, and visual language that define this enduring art form through 40 powerful designs, including the panther head, dagger and heart, rose, anchor, torch, swallow, cobra and skull, samurai tiger, woman and demon flip-face, handshake with the devil, wolf and sheep, and more.
Each design is broken down using the Vault Editions 12-step drawing process, making it simple to understand structure, proportion, and flow. The method helps you build strong foundational skills while refining your confidence in line work, composition, and shading. Whether you're a tattoo apprentice, professional artist, or drawing enthusiast, this guide is designed to help you capture the strength, clarity, and attitude of traditional tattoo flash.
