ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A pinnacle of Mexican narrative, this piece is indispensable in Ibargüengoitia's work.

Loaded with irony and a unique perspective, Jorge Ibargüengoitia showcases in this collection of texts the inexplicable logic behind life in this country: the ridiculous rituals of bureaucracy; how extraordinarily useless national technology is; the endless soul-searching a common citizen must do before deciding whom to vote for; and the peculiar ways Mexicans give bad news or introduce strangers.

In Mexico, the absurd reveals itself as an everyday occurrence.

Instrucciones para vivir en México is a splendid example of the critical and humorous capacity of an indispensable author for Hispanic American literature.
