Arguably, no nation has been more consequential over the past 1,000 years of world history than England. And among the English people, no ethnicity has been more consequential than the Jews-hence the present study.
For many years, though, there existed only sympathetic and biased accounts of English Jewry, typically by Jewish writers. This changed, though, in the mid-1930s when a German attorney and scholar, Fritz Peter Krueger (or Krüger) moved to London with his wife and began to research the history of England's Jews from a skeptical, critical, and objective standpoint.
England of that time was firmly in the Jewish grip, and knowing that his British hosts would not look kindly on any 'anti-Semitic' writing that was critical of Jews, Krueger elected to published under the name Dr. Peter Aldag. After publishing a small booklet under that name in 1937, Krueger redoubled his efforts, enlisting his wife to assist with the production of a large, two-volume, 650-page work entitled Das Judentum in England - "Jewry in England." An initial edition appeared in 1939 (under the Aldag name) and a final edition was released in 1943.
Until now, this book has never appeared in print in English. Here, distinguished British scholar William Penman provides an expert translation in modern, readable English-and in a single, large volume. Further, he has taken the time to verify most of Krueger's citations, and he adds helpful footnoted commentary throughout the book.
A truly magisterial study, this work is unsurpassed in its detailed study of Jews and Jewish influence in England from the 600s AD through the 1940s. It will likely never be surpassed. This book stands as an essential text for all those interested in the development and evolution of Jewish power, not only in England but in the entire Western world.
